HK SFC Chair Says Regulator to Consider Guidance on Listed Firms' Digital Asset Treasuries, Bitcoin Purchases
Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) Chair Wong Tai-yau said on October 30 the regulator will consider issuing guidance on listed companies' investments in digital assets, as no current rules govern such activities. The SFC is examining market developments around digital asset treasury (DAT) arrangements and bitcoin purchases by public firms, data show. Wong noted no laws currently oversee these initiatives and urged investors to assess the nature and underlying value of DAT proposals. Wen Wei Po reports the review is underway.
